Inside Adelina's Restaurant & Pizzeria in downtown Wilkes-Barre

Our Story

Family · Fire · Resilience

Some restaurants are built on business plans. Adelina's was built on something deeper — a family recipe carried across the Atlantic from Italy, passed down through generations, and guarded with the kind of pride that only comes from knowing your food carries your family's name.

A Family Tradition

Three Generations of Love on Every Plate

Lisa and Bernie Cummings didn't just open a restaurant — they opened their family's kitchen to an entire community. Their pizza recipe goes back generations to Italy, made from scratch using the family's own recipe that has never been written down for anyone outside the bloodline.

Today, their daughter Paige Ceaser manages the downtown Wilkes-Barre location, carrying the tradition forward with the same hands-on devotion her parents instilled. Lisa and Bernie remain deeply involved, working alongside Paige to ensure every dish that leaves the kitchen meets the standard their family name demands.

Where It Began

The Mountain Top Years

For years, Adelina's operated at 166 South Mountain Boulevard in Mountain Top, Pennsylvania, where it became a cornerstone of the community. Word spread quickly — the pizza was unlike anything else in the area. It wasn't long before the accolades followed: voted best pizza in Wilkes-Barre and best pizza on the Mountain.

Regular customers became like extended family. Friday nights meant a packed dining room. Celebrations, birthdays, and ordinary Tuesday dinners all had one thing in common — they were better when shared over Adelina's food.

May 20, 2025

The Night Everything Changed

On the morning of May 20, 2025, a devastating two-alarm fire tore through the Mountain Top location. Flames consumed the building that had served as the family's second home for years. By the time firefighters brought the blaze under control, the structure was beyond saving. It would later be demolished entirely.

Mercifully, no one was injured. But the Cummings family was left facing every restaurant owner's worst nightmare — their livelihood, their legacy, reduced to rubble. Their staff was out of work. Their customers were heartbroken.

We received an unbelievable amount of support from the community — offers for help, hugs, and prayers.

A New Chapter

Rising in Downtown Wilkes-Barre

The Cummings family didn't dwell on what was lost. Within weeks of the fire, plans were already in motion. By August 2025, Adelina's reopened at 77 East Market Street in downtown Wilkes-Barre, inside the historic Genetti's / Best Western Plus building.

The urgency was personal. As the family put it: they wanted to get their staff back to work and keep their customers happy. The people who had stood by them through the darkest moment deserved nothing less.

The new downtown space gave Paige the opportunity she had always envisioned — to create a dining experience that was a little bit different from everything else in the area. The same beloved family recipes, but presented with an elevated atmosphere that honors both their Italian heritage and the vibrant energy of downtown Wilkes-Barre.

Adelina's has always been more than just food — it's about family.

The Cummings family still intends to rebuild the original Mountain Top location, ensuring that both communities can share in the tradition.

Our Promise

Quality Without Compromise

Generations-Old Recipes

Our pizza dough and sauce recipes trace directly back to Italy. They have never been changed, never been shortcut, and never been shared outside the family. Every pie is made the same way our ancestors made it.

Fresh, Never Frozen

From our hand-stretched dough to our homemade sauces and fresh mozzarella, we prepare everything in-house daily. We source quality ingredients because our family name is on every plate that leaves the kitchen.

Made With Love

Paige wanted to offer a fancy dining experience that stands apart — elevated Italian cuisine rooted in the warmth of family cooking. Every dish is prepared with the care you would give to a meal for your own loved ones.
